Since you’ve mentioned Canon, you probably shoot Canon already.

The 7D and the 5D2 are very very different animals, even though they are both of the same species. All out image quality is on the side of the 5D, but it’s not the fastest camera in the world. The 7D’s 8fps, wirelessly lit speedlite, HD video performance is probably a better all rounder, suitable for everything.

It may be worthwhile to consider the 1D4 if you can afford it, it’s what the 7D on steroids is.

With all these cameras you need a really good lens to go with it, the 5D works v. well with the 24-70L and 24-105L but the APS-C on the 7D works better with the 16-35L., and you’ll probably also be looking at the 70-200’s depending on what you need. Remember that anything short of good glass then you may not get the advertised resolution.
