How do you replace the broken show of a Canon Speedlite 430EX flash?
My Canon Speedlite 430EX flash has a broken shoe. It got snapped while it was still mounted. I’d like to know where I can get the part and what the procedure is for replacing it.
If you read the Owner’s Manual for your flash, somewhere in it there will be a lightning bolt icon next to the word WARNING! followed by “Do not attempt to disassemble this unit. Severe shock may result! Service should be done by a trained technician.” Or words to that effect.
Inside the flash is a little thing called a capacitor. It stores a charge that results in the flash. Since this charge is several thousand volts, accidentally discharging it can shock you and burn you.
