Does the Canon SD880 have a fast shutter speed?
Any other cameras that you think are worth buying with fast shutter speed? I’m looking for compact under $350.
First, I believe you may be confused by shutter speed and shutter lag.
The Canon Sd880 has a minimum shutter speed of 15 seconds and a maximum shutter speed of 1/1600 second. This means that you can take an exposure for as long as 15 seconds under very low-light conditions.In bright sunlight your shutter speed may be as fast as 1/1600 sec. This has nothing to do with how quickly you can take a picture.
Shutter lag is how long it takes the camera to take a picture from the time you press the shutter release until the camera actually takes the picture. The SD880 in tests took 0.3 sec. to take 1 picture and 8.29 sec. to take 5 pictures. Using the flash, it took 1.06 sec. to take 1 picture and 16.81 sec. to take 5 pictures. The added delay when using the flash is caused by the flash having to recharge.
